More experimentation with cel shading. Turned out just as nicely as The Truth is Out There. I went for a sort of sixties, bond-ish pop art thing with this and I'm pretty satisfied with how it looks. For once.
Anyway, if you don't know who this is than I assume you are a moron who can't read, therefore insulting your intelligence won't be a problem...as you can't read. HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Illiterate people are funny.
My insensitivity aside, I love Doctor Girlfriend but not in a creepy, fan-ish kind of way. Though, truth be told, Dr. Orpheus is my favorite character in "The Venture Brothers", Doctor Girlfriend is a very close second. I admitted in one of my LJ posts that I like to walk around my house quoting one of her lines from the show.
"You're a monster!!"
My Doctor Girlfriend impression is completely off and horrible, owing to the fact that I am an ACTUAL girl with a very high, girly sounding voice...hence I'm not able to achieve the lower registers her voice actor can achieve. Sad Anne. Yet, I still walk around my house repeating, You're a monster!! and then laughing like an idiot in my own particular idiom.
Funny side note, for a short time while drawing this I was listening to "How Can I Sing Like A Girl" by TMBG.
Sometime I'll have to try my hand at Dr. Orpheus. Also, there are a lot of doctors on "The Venture Brothers". A LOT.
After I inked this, I discovered Dr. Girlfriend wore boots that went up to the knee, rather than calf length like these. I was really bummed but then I figured that being a rather trendy woman, Dr. Girlfriend would have more than one pair of shoes. So there.
[EDIT]
Changed the look of the image a bit. If anyone noticed...
Hot Sexy Mama! Dr. Girlfriend's a babe... and then she starts talking.

From the back of the box of the Advent Children action figures: "... able to assume almost any position." I'm going to have real fun with these boys.
How do you do cell shading? Is it particularly hard?
On the pic as a whole, I like it. It hints at the inner supervillain that all of the characters in the VB universe say she could be if she left the Monarch with the dynamic pose.
First, clean up and color the original drawing. Then, you'll need to create a new layer over the original drawing. Taking the lasso tool, draw the loose shape of what you want the shadow or highlight to look like over the area you want it to go in. Once that's done, take the fill tool and fill the still lasso-ed area with that color. Then you adjust the opacity on that layer to your liking. Finally, clean up any areas that overlap where you don't want the shadow color to go. It's best if you have several layers. This one had about eighteen before I was done. I had one layer for the shadows on her skin, another for her clothes, yet another for her gloves and shoes, one for the shadows in her hair and a completely separate one for the highlights. You get the idea. I advise naming each layer so that way you don't get confused.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
